From August 31 to September 14, 2026, the General Chapter of the Sisters of Divine Providence took place at St. Imbert in Seoul, South Korea. Under the theme “Sacred Adventure, the Path to Possibilities,” 37 sisters gathered to reflect on the future of their congregation, explore new perspectives, and strengthen their shared journey of faith.

The participants traveled from Korea, Germany, the United States, Peru, Puerto Rico, and Rome. With the support of interpreters, the sisters were able to exchange ideas across national and language barriers. Four chapter delegates from Germany attended the General Chapter.

Discovering New Paths Together

The General Chapter focused on important questions concerning the future of the congregation. In both large and small groups, the sisters explored various topics based on the work of the commissions.

The key topics included:

• Laudato Si: Responsibility for creation and special care for vulnerable and disadvantaged people on the margins of society.

• Intercultural Growth: Strengthening mutual understanding and community life across cultural boundaries.

• Intercultural Apostolate: Establishing an international group to further develop intercultural community life and apostolic ministry in collaboration with other communities.

• Leadership as a Synodal Journey: Promoting participatory leadership centered on listening, collaboration, and shared decision-making.

The in-depth discussions, shared reflections, and diverse perspectives made the General Chapter an enriching experience for all chapter delegates.

A Prayer for Spiritual Guidance

The General Chapter was accompanied by a prayer that reflected the theme of the sacred adventure and expressed trust in God’s providence:

God of Providence, grant us an awareness of Your presence as we embark on our sacred adventure together.

Strengthen our trust in Your loving care and guidance as we explore new paths for the future that lies ahead.

Grant us the openness to recognize new possibilities and the courage to embrace them as we enter this General Chapter, ready to embark on a sacred adventure with You.

Amen.

An Enriching Time of Community

The two weeks in Seoul were marked by intensive collaboration, meaningful encounters, and shared reflection on the future of the congregation.

The General Chapter offered the sisters an opportunity to strengthen their bonds and embrace new paths together. The theme “Sacred Adventure, the Path to Possibilities” remains an invitation to face the future with openness, courage, and trust in God’s providence.
