Sowing at 100 – Sister Asteria touches hearts

Schwester Asteria

A particularly heartfelt article in the Blickpunkt on April 13, 2025, tells the story of Sister Maria Asteria, who, at the age of 107, still prays for others – and even sowed flowers in the convent garden at the age of 100. The Sisters of Divine Providence remember this remarkable woman with great gratitude.

Born on January 26, 1918, in Ober-Mörlen, Sister Asteria joined our religious community in 1940. She lived out her calling for many decades in the care of children – with great dedication, especially during and after World War II. Since 1992, she has lived at the Clemensheim in Aschaffenburg.

“She always lived with great discipline and entrusted everything beyond her control to God,” her family reports. Despite enduring serious illnesses, she never lost her faith in God – nor her joy in life.

The Sisters of Divine Providence in Mainz-Finthen are grateful for this beautiful article, which honors the long and blessed life of Sister Asteria – a life full of devotion, prayer, and trust.
