Child of Bethlehem,
You light in the darkness of our time—
your light shines upon all nations of our world.

Child of Bethlehem,
door to new life,
opening in the depth and breadth of the heart.

Child of Bethlehem,
carried by the hopes and visions of the prophets—
courage for the future,
venturing forth into a new beginning,
into a new time.

Child of Bethlehem,
Savior—Anointed One, Redeemer,
in the prisons of fear, discord, injustice, grief, suffering, and power.

Child of Bethlehem,
bringer of peace,
into the violent escalation of a world torn apart by wars.
Your peace be with us,
in each of our steps.

Dear friends, benefactors, and supporters of our mission project in Lima, Peru,

Advent and Christmas 2025 lie ahead of us, each with its own character and diversity. At the end of this year, the Holy Door—the Porta Sancta—in St. Peter’s Basilica will be closed again, thus completing the cycle of the Holy Year. Countless pilgrim groups from all directions of the world have carried their hopes and burdens before God as they walked, praying and singing, through the open Holy Door.

For me, it was deeply moving to witness the many faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square in Rome, to see them recognize one another in their pilgrimage, and to experience how they affirmed and strengthened one another in faith—a new worldwide awakening of our Christian community.

Another sign of hope was the Youth Jubilee, during which around one million young people joined Pope Leo in Tor Vergata, praying in silent adoration before the Bread of Life, the Blessed Sacrament.

Our international religious community, too, has new hope for the future.

During a conversation with Sister Maria Christina, the regional superior of our mission in Peru, I learned that the situation in Peru has changed dramatically due to the influx of Venezuelan refugees, increasing corruption and violence, and organized criminal groups. Society has been deeply affected; especially the mountain people have fallen into even greater dependence and poverty. People are fighting for their land, their lives, peace, and justice.

Our mission project Casa de Acogida Divina Providencia, supporting young adults in Peru, enjoys great popularity, and the demand among students is high. Our sisters are committed to helping these young people so they may have a life filled with hope and opportunity. Young people from the mountains, in particular, need this support—also so they will not be at risk of being exploited by wealthier individuals during their years of study.

Thanks to your generosity, dear friends and benefactors, the construction of the Casa de Acogida Divina Providenciacould begin, and the first floor has already been completed.

For the next floor, donations amounting to €20,000 have been received this year. To all donors, I express my heartfelt thanks and a sincere “May God reward you.”

Two more floors are still needed to complete the building, and we continue to rely on your financial support.
